Huntsville police arrested Daren William Mount, 59, on Monday. He faces 10 counts of first-degree voyeurism. Mount is a registered sex offender in Alabama.
The investigation began after a business employee reported seeing concerning images while helping Mount transfer digital files. The police department’s STRIKE team took over the case. Officers found pictures and videos of children during the search.
Investigators said some recordings were taken at angles showing intimate areas of the children’s bodies. They also noted that some images were manipulated. Police stated that some of the recordings appeared to be captured in public places.
Federal court records show Mount pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography in 2013. He received an 84-month prison sentence and 240 months of supervised release. His original indictment covered a period from 2003 to 2010.
Mount was released in 2019 but returned to prison twice for violating release terms. A federal judge later ordered him to serve supervised release for life. Police seized electronic devices during Monday’s arrest. Forensic specialists are currently examining the equipment.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Sex Offender Registry lists Mount as a registered offender. Police indicated that Mount may face additional charges as the review of the devices continues.
