Noah Eile is recovering from a health issue that has kept him sidelined for Bristol City's last four matches, according to manager Michael Skubala. The 24-year-old defender missed the recent Stoke City draw and will not be available for Saturday's trip to Bolton Wanderers.
Skubala described the situation during a press conference on Thursday afternoon at the HPC. He confirmed that Eile is on antibiotics and is "on the mend." The manager noted that while the defender is improving, he has not yet returned to training with the full squad.
Eile last played in Bristol City's victory over Watford. That match marked the end of his current availability stretch, as he was unable to train with teammates for much of the extended international break due to the illness. Skubala said the club has a good grip on the condition and expects Eile to begin individual work on the grass soon.
The manager anticipated that Eile could be back in team training by the next international window. This timeline would allow him to prepare for Bristol City's upcoming schedule, which includes back-to-back home games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Norwich City in early November. Skubala viewed the upcoming break as a positive development for the defender's return.
Bristol City currently sits 14th in the Championship, one point behind 18th-placed Bolton Wanderers. The Robins have not won their last four matches. The team is set to face the Trotters at the Toughsheet Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Following that match, Bristol City will host Wolves under the lights on Wednesday before facing Norwich at BS3 the next Saturday.
Skubala emphasized the physical toll of the illness, noting that Eile lost weight during his time off. He observed that the defender is now arriving at training with a smile, a sign of his improving mood and condition. The manager expressed confidence that Eile will return to his best form, despite the setback of missing several weeks of football and training.
The recovery period extends to the trip to Middlesbrough, which occurs after the November international break. Skubala said this timing is ideal for Eile to integrate back into the squad. The manager acknowledged the challenges of football, where injuries and illness can cause significant downtime, but he highlighted Eile's strong character as a factor in his recovery.
