Zarian Dyer, 23, was arrested at his job on Thursday morning in Buckeye. He faces five charges, including aggravated assault, sexual abuse, attempted sexual assault, kidnapping, and conspiracy.
Buckeye Police responded to a residence on the evening of Oct. 16. Bella Torres reported that an unknown man entered her home and attacked her. Torres was home with her children at the time. She fought off the intruder, Adrian Ayala, 20. Ayala fled the scene. Police arrested him the next day at his home in Goodyear.
Security video from the residence captured the incident. In the footage, Ayala tells Torres that her partner sent him to assault her. He states that the arrangement was made on Reddit. Ayala’s attorney repeated this claim in court.
Detectives searched phones and other devices belonging to both men. They found communications outlining the planned attack, according to Carissa Planalp, a Buckeye Police spokesperson. Prosecutors alleged that Dyer instructed Ayala to assault Torres while she was alone. They also said Dyer told Ayala to FaceTime him during the attack.
Police have not released a confirmed motive for the incident. They stated that the investigation into the reason for the attack continues.
