Jacob Allen Morley, serving a life sentence for a 2022 murder, has triggered a multi-state search costing the government tens of thousands in rewards.

The financial stake in capturing Jacob Allen Morley has reached $17,500. This combined sum reflects a coordinated funding response from three distinct government entities. The Tennessee Governor’s Office contributes $7,500. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation adds $5,000. The U.S. Marshals Service provides the remaining $5,000. These funds are available to anyone providing information that leads to his arrest.
Morley escaped early Monday from the Northwest Correctional Complex in Lake County, Tennessee. He took a white Ford work truck with a flatbed marked for Lindamood Planting Company. Investigators recovered the abandoned vehicle in Marion, Illinois. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation initially reported his last confirmed sighting as Tuesday morning in Marion. The agency later corrected this timeline, stating he was last seen in that location on Monday morning. His current whereabouts remain unknown to authorities.
The manhunt spans multiple states following the theft of the work truck. Morley is serving a life sentence with the possibility of parole for the 2022 murder of Cody Birchfield in Carter County. A jury convicted him of first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and aggravated burglary. Investigators consider him dangerous and active across state lines.
A separate armed robbery at the Bank of Deerfield in Dane County, Wisconsin, is under review by authorities. A gunman restrained two employees and took cash before stealing a Lincoln MKZ from the parking lot. The vehicle was later found empty. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is aware of this incident but has not confirmed a connection to Morley. The Lincoln MKZ and the Ford truck used in the escape are distinct vehicles.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation urges residents in Tennessee and surrounding states to inspect vacation homes, lake houses, hunting cabins, sheds, barns, and garages. The agency asks people to look for items that seem out of place. It also encourages checks on elderly relatives and vulnerable neighbors. Witnesses who spot Morley should not approach him. They should call 911 immediately. The direct line for tips is 1-800-TBI-FIND.
The U.S. Marshals Service, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and local and federal partners continue to process leads. The reward structure remains active until capture. The $17,500 total is split among the three funding bodies as listed.
