On the Oct. 28, 2026 episode of Aging Untold, board-certified physician Dr. Rhea Rogers said the fat-free label at the grocery store does not guarantee a healthier choice. "So if they're removing the fat, they had to replace it with something else. So you have to look at the ingredients and look at the packaging," Rogers said. She said she once found fat categories confusing and created a simple way to sort them.

The episode also addressed policy for family caregivers. National Alliance for Caregiving President and CEO Jason Resendez said the organization is working on changes "to address so many of the pain points that family caregivers face every day." Resendez recently testified before the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging.

Before that committee, Resendez presented three policy proposals: funding for the Older Americans Act, national paid family and medical leave, and a larger role for Medicare. He said the three together "represent a stronger foundation to help family caregivers provide care sustainably, with dignity and with equity over time."

The program also profiled a volunteer group in Kentucky called the Flower Buds. The group takes flowers from weddings, funerals, and other community events and delivers them to nursing homes, the VA hospital, assisted living facilities, and shelters. Since 2006, the Flower Buds have delivered more than 90,000 vases of flowers.

The program's disclaimer states that the information provided is for educational and informational purposes and does not constitute medical advice. It directs anyone seeking personal medical advice to consult a licensed physician and notes that no physician-patient relationship is created through the program.
