Litigation over the medical care of Lindsay Clancy continues in Massachusetts courts as legal teams clash over witness testimony expectations. On Wednesday, a dispute emerged in Norfolk County Superior Court concerning the civil suit filed by Patrick Clancy against his ex-wife's former healthcare providers. The case involves allegations that medical staff failed to act on specific mental health disclosures before the deaths of the couple's three children.
Howard Cooper, counsel for Patrick Clancy, told the court that he expects Lindsay Clancy to provide testimony in the civil matter. He stated that once her Fifth Amendment privilege issues are resolved, she is anticipated to take the stand. Cooper asserted that she will confirm telling defendants explicitly about her homicidal ideation and her fears for her children's safety. He noted that this testimony is central to the argument that medical providers were on notice of the risk.
Kevin Reddington, Lindsay Clancy's attorney, issued a statement rejecting these characterizations. He said his client has never indicated an intention to testify in Patrick Clancy's lawsuit. Reddington emphasized that no one acting on her behalf has represented that she would provide such testimony. He described the claims made by opposing counsel as inaccurate representations of his client's position.
Reddington also addressed the substance of the alleged medical disclosures. He stated that Lindsay Clancy never told any healthcare provider that she harbored homicidal ideation toward her children. He clarified that she never indicated to medical staff that she had such thoughts. The statement was obtained by Fox News Digital and released in response to the court proceedings held this week.
The civil litigation runs parallel to the criminal case that concluded with a mistrial last month. In September 2026, Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial after jurors split 11-1 in the first-degree murder trial. The three children, Callan, Cora, and Dawson, were all under age six when they were found strangled at the family home in January 2023. Lindsay Clancy is 36 years old. The hospital and healthcare provider attorneys have asked a judge to dismiss the civil suits, arguing that Lindsay Clancy did not disclose her homicidal thoughts to her treaters.
The conflicting accounts from opposing counsel have added a new layer to the ongoing legal battles. Patrick Clancy and Lindsay Clancy have separately sued various hospitals and providers. Both suits allege that failures in her medical care contributed to the deaths. The Wednesday hearing marked the first public exchange on the specific content of potential testimony from Lindsay Clancy regarding her mental state during her treatment.
