Town staff occupied the Longboat Key Town Commission chambers for approximately 90 minutes on Thursday afternoon, converting the meeting room into a Halloween gathering. The event featured costumes from employees across the municipal workforce.

The transformation took place early in the afternoon. Staff members coordinated in small groups to select their outfits before entering the room. The space, typically used for setting millage rates and discussing utility projects, hosted characters ranging from pop culture figures to historical leaders.

Attendees included individuals dressed as Elvis Presley and Joe Dirt. A group of staff members arrived together as the Three Musketeers. The new town manager appeared in a George Washington costume. One employee wore a blanket designed to look like a pig.

The buffet table included a batch of homemade pierogies prepared by a single staffer. All participants brought their own food to the event. No alcohol was served, excluding any beverages potentially stored in office file cabinets.

The gathering concluded after the estimated hour and a half. The room was prepared for standard municipal use following the party. The town commission had not scheduled a regular public meeting for that specific afternoon.

The event marked a departure from the usual proceedings in the chambers, where residents typically attend hearings on infrastructure costs and development disputes. Staff returned to their regular duties after the costume display.
