Spire Motorsports suspended Carson Hocevar from driving the No. 77 car for the final race of the 2026 NASCAR season. The team announced the decision on Tuesday, stating that Hocevar will sit out the Nov. 8 event at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Drivers in all three of NASCAR's top series are scheduled to complete the racing calendar this weekend.

The suspension follows accusations that Hocevar intentionally spun his car to trigger a caution flag during the Nov. 1 race at Martinsville. The 23-year-old also had a physical confrontation with Austin Cindric during that event. These incidents added to a season marked by aggressive driving and several notable disputes.

In a written statement, Spire Motorsports explained that the decision was based on organizational values rather than financial considerations. "The easy thing would have been to leave this in NASCAR's hands. To us, however, this isn't about money or points. We believe in respect. Our integrity matters. This is the right decision. Sometimes the right decision for someone you care about hurts in the short term," the team said.

Justin Haley, a NASCAR veteran and former driver for Spire, will take the wheel of the No. 77 car for the season finale. Hocevar responded to the news in his own statement, describing the moment as difficult. "I let the people down that gave me the opportunity of a lifetime to drive a Cup car," Hocevar wrote. He noted that his on-track actions forced owner Jeff Dickerson and the team to replace him for the weekend.

Hocevar has become one of the more popular drivers in the series this year due to his driving style and public persona. Despite this popularity, his career has included numerous incidents involving other drivers. One such event was a brawl at Bristol in September that drew widespread attention.

Statistically, Hocevar had a successful year on the track. He earned his first Cup Series victory at Talladega on April 26 and qualified for the postseason for the first time. In 35 races this season, he recorded 12 top-10 finishes and six top-five results. He entered the final race ranked 12th in the points standings.
