Hawaii residents report a viral social media trend involving heavy kicks to residential front doors has arrived in local neighborhoods. Authorities describe the activity as involving teenagers who approach random homes late at night. They deliver a high-impact kick or bang to the door to simulate a home invasion before running away. The trend aims to startle occupants and create the illusion of a break-in.

In Maui, residents say the behavior has continued for several months. Home surveillance cameras captured the incidents in the middle of the night. Matt, a homeowner who requested his full name not be used to avoid retaliation, said the trend has affected his property. He described waking up to the sound of violent pounding at 1:30 a.m. The noise disturbed his sleep and unsettled him inside the house.

Matt reported spending nearly $14,000 to repair the damage and secure his home. He filed multiple police reports and contacted his homeowners association. He described the situation as unsettling, noting the intensity of the impact on the door. He expressed a desire for justice while also acknowledging that the participants are likely teenagers. He suggested the behavior might be a cry for help.

Mae, a resident of Ewa Beach on Oahu, experienced a similar incident around 9 p.m. She heard her front door being kicked about five times. The force of the blows shook the entire house. She felt as though someone was trying to break the door down. Mae stated that she was terrified during the event. She learned that the trend was also occurring on Maui, which surprised her.

Mae noted that another resident in her area reported forceful kicking. She believes the pranks are happening frequently in their community. She also chose not to share her full name or specific neighborhood due to fears of retaliation. She expressed sympathy for the family on Maui experiencing the same issue. She described the trend as disrespectful to neighbors and their property.

Mae shared a message for the teenagers responsible for the pranks. She acknowledged that times are hard and repairs are expensive. She urged parents to talk to their children about respecting neighbors and property. Matt is asking the community for help identifying the individuals involved in the vandalism.

Both residents emphasized the financial and emotional toll of the trend. The cost of repairs can be substantial, and the fear of a break-in adds stress to late-night hours. The incidents have prompted homeowners to review their security measures and seek support from local police and neighborhood groups.
