Anthropic submitted documents on Monday to sell shares to the public for the first time. The filing positions the San Francisco based company for a Wall Street listing next month. Reports indicate the offering could generate as much as $100 billion in capital, a sum that would surpass the previous record.

The San Francisco company has been in operation for five years. Private investors valued the firm at $965 billion earlier this year. Current projections suggest that valuation may rise to $1.5 trillion or $2 trillion before the final price is set. If the lower estimate holds, Anthropic would join Tesla among the most valuable public companies globally.

The move follows a public argument by CEO Dario Amodei regarding the pace of AI development. In a recent essay, Amodei called for slowing the creation of the most advanced models. He also warned that such technology could pose an existential threat to humanity. The filing arrives while his sister and co-founder, Daniela Amodei, shares leadership of the firm.

Financial data in the 335 page document shows rapid revenue growth but ongoing losses. Anthropic reported a net loss of $80.7 billion for the first half of 2026. That figure represents a sharp increase from the $13 billion loss recorded in the same period a year earlier. The company remains unprofitable despite its expanding user base for its chatbot Claude.

The planned listing would place Anthropic ahead of rival OpenAI in going public. Analysts expect both companies to launch major stock offerings in the near future. The SpaceX debut in June raised a record $86 billion, a benchmark Anthropic aims to exceed with this new sale.

The company will list its stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market. Investors will trade shares under the ticker symbol ANT. The exact amount raised and the final valuation remain undetermined until the offering concludes.
