Madison, Ill. One person died and three others were injured in a shooting at Madison Senior High School on Sunday night. The incident took place around 9:50 p.m. during a youth football championship game. Authorities confirmed that the game was not organized or sponsored by the school.

The three surviving victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The fourth victim died at the scene. The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis is leading the investigation into the shooting.

Lt. Andrew Pierson, the public information officer for the Major Case Squad, asked community members to share any information they have. “Someone in that crowd saw something, recorded something, or has heard something since. We are asking those people to come forward,” Pierson said. He noted that a single photo, short video, or specific detail could help move the case forward.

The Madison School District canceled classes for Monday, with normal operations set to resume on Wednesday. In a statement, the district said it was deeply saddened by the violence, noting that the incident affects the entire school community. The district plans to offer counseling and support services to students and staff.

Law enforcement is seeking witnesses and anyone with information. The public can contact the command post at 618-709-7750 or CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477.
